One night in 1989, Rob and I were having dinner at one of our favorite restaurants in NYC.
I love you; Rob wrote on a napkin. And then he said,
“Marry me.”
He had two $2 bills in his hands, one for me and the other for him.
“Say yes, always carry your two-dollar bill with you,” he told me. “I will do the same, this is the second chance of love for both of us.”
He explained the Chinese phenomenon of yin and yang. “Yang is dark, the male, which is me. Yin is the female, you, Myrta, the sun. The opposites need each other to grow. Yin cannot give birth without yang. I need my ‘sweet face’ in my life. You are the light of my life.”
I quickly placed my $2 bill in my wallet, telling him I accepted his romantic marriage proposal.
It was a definite yes!
